Our Mission Statment

Thank you for your interest in the Erie Motorcycle Club.  Our club was first organized in 1929 and incorporated in 1946.  Our club's aim is to share this riding experience with motorcyclists by sponsoring various events like Poker, Lime, and Dice Runs.  We also ride to other club's  events in the Erie Area.

The E.M.C. is engaged in presenting a good public motorcycling image by supporting such organizations as the WQLN public TV station, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, etc.  Some of our members are certified instructors and teach motorcycle riding to novices sponsored by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.  We also donate funds to local charities as determined by the membership.  

Public Events

We invite all motorcyclists who ride street legal machines to all of our public events.  These events occur during the riding season, usually April thru October.  Each run is advertised by various means such as an ad in the Erie Times "Showcase", and flyers/posters on display at Erie area motorcycle shops.

Before all events, we meet at a pre-designated location such as a local restaurant or coffee shop to register and pay a small entry fee which covers the cost of prizes and expenses.  You will compete in one of several classes determined by the number of entrants at the event.  Usually you'll be given a score card and route sheet.  After a short drivers meeting to cover any last minute changes, safety tips, etc. you're on your way.  Depending upon the type of event, you will be required to perform a predetermined activity at the checkpoints along the route--like in the case of a Poker Run, draw a card at each checkpoint, and prizes are awarded at the end of the event for the best Poker hand, Dice roll, etc.  These details are usually discussed prior to the event at the drivers meeting, so pay attention!

Club Activities

The E.M.C. also sponsors an occasional club ride or outing for its members.  For example, some of our year round activities have included a club ride to some points of interest, a boat ride on Lake Erie, or tubing at Peek n Peak in winter and awards banquet.

Membership Requirements:

Our club is affiliated with the American Motorcycle Association, District 5 covering Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia.  The Erie Motorcycle Club is chartered by the A.M.A., and except for the club's officers, membership in the A.M.A. is not required but is encouraged.  We welcome new members, come to a couple of meetings and check us out. Our membership dues are currently $10 per person, or $15 per couple. The only requirement for joining is to attend 2 to 3 meetings, then turn in your application with the membership dues.  
Annual dues payment is required to maintain your membership in the club.

Club Meetings 

The Erie Motorcycle Club meets the second Tuesday of each month.  Meeting place is Edinboro Boro Hall Social Room (basement) Route 99, Edinboro, Pa
        It is at these meetings that we plan the club events and debate issues pertaining to motorcycling.
